Your 'secure' job isn't what it used to be

-

The career advice that worked for our parents no longer works for us.

My mate James got seventeen good years out of it.

He had the steady salary, a company car and those juicy pension contributions.

But then came the Monday morning email: "Due to restructuring..."

James spent three weeks barely sleeping, wondering if his name would be on the list. Walking into the office felt like entering a funeral home.

The 9-to-5 used to be security.

Now, with one boss who can cancel you at the click of a button, it's a single point of failure.

Something shifted in the early 2000s. Companies stopped honouring the unwritten contract. Loyalty became a one-way street. Globalisation and the Internet changed the game.

Your decades of service mean nothing when quarterly numbers don't add up.

And now, with AI and other threats, the heat is reaching a boiling point.

The job security our parents had is gone.

You have one boss. One income stream. One company that can eliminate your entire livelihood in a fifteen-minute Zoom meeting.

I'm writing this from Tallinn, though I could be anywhere.

My focus over the last 15 years has been to never need to rely on a job, and I somehow made it work.

My deep need to avoid traditional employment meant I discovered 'personal branding' by mistake.

To sell my own products and services and books, I knew I needed attention.

So I wrote blogs.

I gathered a following.

I developed trust through little daily actions.

It took me a while because I was learning it all from scratch.

I didn't need tens of thousands of followers to make money, though. I could bring in income right away, with the right networking.

But over time, as my audience grew, I was able to leverage that and reduce the time I was spending making money through services.

I could earn while I slept, selling products, memberships, and endorsements.

Most of all, with people reading my regular posts and newsletters, I'm not worried about where my income will come from.

However, it still requires time and commitment, and you'll want to start as soon as possible.

I now wake up knowing I'm not dependent on any single person's decision about my future.

The world has changed, and whether you want to make money selling services, jewellery, or books, it's time to adapt by building your own online audience.

If you're ready to build the kind of security that actually works in 2025, my Online Writing Alchemy course shows you exactly how to build a following that pays you.

You'll save years learning how to do this, directly from me.

It's everything I learned about growing from zero followers to over 230k readers - many of whom pay me to write and share my ideas.

Get it here and start building real security.
