You've probably scrolled past this quote before...
So much meaning in one sentence.
I was swiping through Instagram this morning when a quote stopped me cold.
I had to immediately re-share it to my Instagram stories.
(I know, I'm cool).
The quote read:
"It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it." —Aristotle
Damn. This encapsulates so much of what I write about and teach.
And my man Aristotle captured it beautifully in one short sentence.
The issue with Instagram, however, is how much noise is competing for your attention there.
You might stumble on something great, but by the time you hit share, you've already spotted something gloriously attractive, colourful and fascinating.
Context, I realise, is everything.
On social media, great ideas abound, but they rarely land.
You get your hit, and then you swipe.
Your brain is hungry for more.
You're just a consumer.
You're doing nothing with the information and probably not even reflecting on it.
This is why social media can be so empty.
But now you're seeing this quote in an entirely different - albeit online - environment:
The quote lands differently.
Because I have a reputation with you, you have certain associations with me, and this is a far more intimate and focused environment than the chaos of the Instagram feed.
That alone will affect how deep the idea behind the quote can infiltrate your mind.
Reread the quote and reflect on it for a moment:
"It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it."
Really visualise what your everyday life is like when you internalise this idea.
You might have already glimpsed a vision of how powerful a single idea like this is.
Did you feel an emotional shift?
Maybe a little tingle in your belly (that's when you know an idea is taking hold).
That's the power of slowing down and allowing your brain to eat an idea, digest it and let it do its work.
If you'd like to go further and master the thinking behind Aristotle's quote so you join the top 2% of most mentally resilient people, you'll enjoy the Untethered Mind course.
This course upgrades the context in which you absorb new insights even further.
You will be guided through a sequence of powerful insights about thought and the mind that will rewire your mind.
One step at a time.
This isn't Instagram. This is a course in which you invested actual money.
Improved context = Improved learning experience.
