You're not stuck with the 'wound'
Let Go of the S#it that Weakens You closes shortly
I was talking to someone recently who told me about their difficult past.
They had a tough childhood with complicated family dynamics.
The impression I got from this person was:
"This is just who I am now. I'm damaged."
Which is a shame, because years of worrying about my 'personality' showed me that we aren't stuck with who we believe we are.
Sure, certain traits are part of our DNA. But I learned after some self-work in my twenties that I didn't need my past wounds to dictate my present behaviour.
For me, I found my social anxiety was directly rooted in the meaning I attached to my wounds.
And many people allow past stressful events to dictate their present choices.
What someone said to you at school now literally determines your personality.
That's silly sauce.
It doesn't need to be this way.
Now, you may have experienced something painful. This is a common human experience. The wound in this sense is real.
But the wound doesn't have to stick.
What keeps it stuck isn't the past event itself. It's the assumptions you adopted about what that event means to you.
These are also called beliefs, and they can keep people stuck their whole lives.
Beliefs like: "Because this happened, I'm obviously not a creative person."
Or: "Being abandoned by my best friend means I can't trust anyone."
Or: "My anxiety is just part of who I am now."
These feel permanent. Like scars that won't fade.
But they're not scars. They're literally interpretations you made that stuck.
They are stories. And stories can be questioned. Examined, and their hold on you released.
When I realised my past wounds do not need to define me, because those are simply assumptions dictating my choices, I was free.
I've seen people go from chronic anxiety to genuine calm in days once they stop believing they're fundamentally broken.
The past happened. The pain was real. Fine.
But you're not stuck with it unless you keep choosing to believe you are.
Let Go of the S#it That Weakens You walks you through exactly how to question and release these beliefs.
The course gives you a clear process for shifting the assumptions that keep wounds stuck long after they should have healed.
The assumptions questioned in the course are universal and will apply to you because you can frame them depending on your unique situation.
The course is on sale this Christmas for just $79 (normally $197).
Ends tomorrow, Friday, December 19th at 5pm ET.
Enjoy,
