You’re bigger than greed

Did you know there are content creators who make hundreds of thousands sharing ‘rage bait?’

Rage bait is purposefully angering people on the Internet to increase views and, therefore, make more money from their posts.

Now, if you’re my kind of reader, you’ll find this kind of thing abhorrent.

For me, it’s empty. It feels icky and manipulative.

And it is.

I have often promoted the value of being polarising.

When you have something you stand for, you will often push people away.

That’s good. It comes from a good place.

You aren’t playing it safe, but you say what you know is true.

You don’t pretend to be someone you’re not to rig the algorithm.

You aren’t selling your soul to pay the bills.

That stuff will come back to haunt you.

If you want to sleep well, you want to be on a purpose that’s bigger than greed.

Are you here to manipulate others just so you can make more money from other people’s anger?

Heck no.

You’re here to make a difference and leave a legacy.

Start by asking yourself how you want to make a contribution to the world that is wholesome and positive, EVEN if it pisses a few people off.

For me, it’s helping people move past fear and self-censorship to inspire more people to be themselves.

This fires me up and keeps me writing.

When you find what your wider contribution is...

Suddenly, your head is out of your everyday doubts. The small stuff doesn’t seem to make you sweat any more.

You’re pumped.

You’re on a mission.

A cause that stirs up your inner dragon.

That’s what we’re here for.

Not cheap likes and rage bait.
