Writing with purpose starts here.

...

For years, I wrote consistently and shared my ideas online.

It felt good, and I’d feel a sense of accomplishment, but something was missing.

It wasn’t until I figured out my overall purpose that things fell into place.

Not just a vague sense of “why” I was writing, but a guiding framework that gave me direction in my writing and across my life.

I even walked with more confidence.

Before that, I often felt scattered.

I’d write on topics that didn’t truly light me up. I’d second-guess whether anyone cared about what I was putting out there. And sometimes, I wondered if my grind was leading to anything meaningful at all.

Then I sat down and asked myself some big questions:

  • Who would I love to write for?

  • What problems am I solving for them?

  • How does my work create positive change in the world?

When I found the answers that felt right and matched up to my story and my skills, things began to click.

My writing gained focus, my brand became more cohesive, and I felt like what I was doing was more ME.

This clarity made my work feel significant. It wasn’t just writing to write anymore. I was building something bigger in a way only I could do it.

Every piece I shared became a way to connect, inspire, and move closer to the impact I wanted to create in the world.

I was on a mission.

By tying my writing to a broader purpose, it is far easier to show up in a way that feels energising, grounded, and full of possibility.

Tomorrow, I’m releasing a new mini-course through the Ember subscription that walks you through creating your own purpose statement—a simple framework to help you find that direction. If you’ve ever felt something was missing in your writing, work, or life, this could be the centrepiece that brings everything into focus.

Oh, and my course: Online Writing Alchemy shows you how to align your sense of purpose with your ideal audience through words.

Writing in a way that makes people feel something is how to bring the two together, and the course shows you exactly how to do this.
