What if you forgot about yourself and focused on your craft instead?
New Ember course incoming...
I’ve written and published millions of words in the last few years.
It’s brought me a life that ticks all my boxes.
Even if I have days when my mind wanders, and I feel like I don’t have it all.
Creating things that interest me and solving problems keeps me happy and able to live the dream of doing my own thing.
My insecurities around creating things in public would appear much more frequently than they do now.
I used to second-guess myself more often.
I had frequent ‘imposter syndrome.’
I doubted I had what it takes to make it work because I thought I didn’t have enough ‘self-belief.’
My lack of confidence in my youth meant I couldn’t possibly have too much confidence as an adult.
And on and on.
All this self-focus.
It only put sticks and stones on the railtrack.
Many of us do this. And this holds many back from getting what they want.
We aren’t consistent, and so we think that diving into the ‘cause’ of why this might be will give us the answer.
We see that we procrastinate a lot and so we go on a journey of self-understanding to see what happened in our past to make us this way.
And we spin wheels and go round and round.
In the meantime, little is achieved, except that now we are even more self-conscious.
My creativity accelerated when I stopped all this soul-searching.
I turned my attention away from myself entirely.
I forgot me, and discovered the art of mastery.
Mastery doesn’t give two hoots about who you are — only that you keep practising and continue creating.
Time and attention spent on the thing in question.
With me out of the equation, the only thing left to do was to get hot shit at what I was doing. Brakes released. Pure acceleration.
Everything changes when you stop focusing on YOU and focus, instead, on your CRAFT.
Your love has an outlet that nourishes the object of your attention.
Love for the craft becomes your purpose.
When energy is redirected this way, you’ll be surprised how much progress you make.
You become the person you were looking for without even trying.
This is one of the game-changing mindsets I explore in detail in my latest mini-course for Ember subscribers:
The Creator’s Mindset Blueprint: My Proven Framework for Thriving in Your Craft
(Even if you’re doubtful, scared and uncertain)
Over 9 modules, I show you how to think in a way that will separate you from 99% of your competition.
While everyone is stumped by their own hang-ups, you are moving forward with a renewed sense of excitement for what you’re building.
Whether you’re writing, painting, leading workshops, or growing businesses.
“Success is 80% psychology and 20% mechanics. What people do is they get all wrapped up in mechanics and they don’t understand that mindset is the key.”
— Tony Robbins
I’m releasing the course for one day only - this Friday 21st - for anyone who is subscribed to Ember. And then it’s gone.
Best,
Alex
