Water was flowing in fast
-
‘It’s leaking!’ I yelled.
My friend was already in the rowing boat.
I had just pushed it into the river.
Water bubbled in through a hole in the back of the boat.
My lifejacket jammed into my lower jaw.
The boat was filling up fast. My bag was getting soaked.
‘There it is! There’s a plug.’
That little black plug was about to float away.
She plugged it back in.
The leaking stopped.
But why the hole?
I took a moment to drop my shoulders and slow down.
And then I realised. It’s for when the boat’s back on land and water needs to be drained.
Sometimes things make absolutely no sense until I stop for a moment, breathe, and allow insights to appear to me without effort.
My best ideas and realisations, in fact, come when I am most at ease, in flow.
The wisdom gained here provided the backbone of my career as an illustrator, writer and content creator.
And it’s got my back when things have seemed bleak and I was seemingly out of options.
That’s the power of something most of us have no idea even exists:
Our inner Intelligence.
As the world becomes increasingly distracted, mentally-strained, stimulated and overloaded with information, this Intelligence becomes inaccessible for most.
This is where we find our edge in such a world.
When I prioritise slower breathing, light exercise, relaxation and present-moment awareness, I benefit from this edge.
My mood lifts, I find the answers I’m looking for, and my creative power expands.
If you’d like to explore and accelerate the impact of your own inner Intelligence, my Untethered Mind course guides you.
The course lays out how to detach from incessant overthinking and break free from societal programming, so you enjoy 90% less stress and achieve your goals twice as fast.
