Turns out, shipping companies hate sweaty faces
.
I once bombed an interview for a big shipping company by treating it like a life-or-death situation.
It was in the glitzy Canary Wharf building in London, and I made a huge deal about it.
I remember my face feeling like it was swelling, and I started to sweat when asked basic questions.
I wanted the job so badly, but I could barely string a sentence together.
I didn’t get a call back and stewed for days in a dark room.
A week later, a friend walked into the same interview, made a joke about getting lost three times, and got hired that same day.
Today I am grateful I didn’t end up in shipping.
But I did learn that people connect far better with me when I don’t take things so seriously.
Yes, it’s weird that the more seemingly serious a situation, the more that situation benefits from us relaxing.
But that’s reality.
Take life less seriously, and life will be kinder to you.
Sick of taking things too seriously?
I show you exactly how to avoid hundreds of disappointments like these by developing light-heartedness in my latest course: ‘The Likeability Code: The 9 Surprising Secrets of Likeable People.’
There are only about 40 hours left to get instant access (and 11 more monthly mini-courses this year) at 71% off when you upgrade to Ember (that’s $1,157 savings on the yearly subscription).
P.S. thanks for managing more emails than usual from me. This deal ends tomorrow.
