Think like a renegade in 2025

3 ways to think like few do

What is thinking like a renegade?

Renegade thinking is about giving the status quo a sideways glance and asking, “Really? Is this the best we can do?”

Thinking like a renegade is about spotting opportunities where others see limits and choosing a path that fits you.

This approach wasn’t always natural for me.

For example, years ago, I was a goal junkie.

This was thanks to the same crap most gurus were spouting about goals.

I’d write big lists with endless ambitious targets.

I thought that’s what success needed. But the harder I pushed, the more I felt stuck in a loop.

One December, fed up, I scrapped my obsession with goals.

I sat down and drew up a system instead. This meant defining my repeatable habits for writing, learning, and staying energised (this is a course I’ve been working on for Ember subscribers, coming soon).

That little strategy made a noticeable impact.

My writing flowed because I was focused on the creating and sharing; creating and sharing.

Ideas came easier thanks to the consistency of it.

And my work started getting noticed (big phew).

Here’s how to think more like a renegade this year:

  1. Do What Everyone Isn’t

Following the herd just creates more competition and pressure.

Renegade thinking means asking, “What would I do if no one else was watching?”

OR: ‘What are people not doing that would work better for me?’

  1. Question the Rules

The so-called ‘rules’ everyone follows aren’t really rules.

They’re mostly just habits people don’t think to question. But they can be broken.

When I stopped assuming the ‘normal’ way was the best way, I started finding opportunities others overlooked. I learned to trust my gut more.

Big shifts in my life came from simply asking, “Does it have to be done like this?”

What’s one ‘rule’ you’ve been following that might not actually serve you?

  1. Move Before You’re Ready

Waiting for the ‘right moment’ is the polite version of mindless procrastination.

Action, even action that feels a bit weird, gives you way more than twiddling your thumbs.

Much of what will help you think like a renegade is about understanding how your mind works and realising you don’t have to believe every thought you have.

There is immense freedom here.

My Untethered Mind course dives into this deeply, helping you shift your relationship with your thoughts so you come out more creative, happier and more resilient.

2025 is waiting for you to cause a ruckus.

Merry Christmas,
