The voice that walks on my rug

-

You ever get that voice that reassures you that you're not doing it right and that something is very likely wrong with you, and that your life is a pitiful mess?

Welcome to being human.

But I learned over years of listening closely to its dulcet tones that, rather than the voice being an evil thing that only wants to sabotage your progress, it is simply this:

A suggestion-giver that is almost always wrong.

The voice is trying to protect me, and it's trying its best, but I've now learned to take EVERYthing it says with a pinch of salt.

I used to get terrible anxiety because I took the voice super seriously.

The voice still knocks on the door, and sometimes it comes in and walks all over my nice Afghan rug, leaving muddy footprints.

But I let it do its thing now rather than try to wrestle it to the ground, or serve it tea.

When i let it be, it usually sees I'm not fussed, and it eventually shows its way out.

This might sound trivial, but knowing how to manage your 'voice' in a way that produces less friction really can make the difference between:

  1. A life of continual stress and hell.

  2. A peaceful, creative life.

So the key thing is this. Know that the voice will often show up. But rather than resist it, let it be, and it will soon fade.

You aren't the voice. You are what remains after you've let it fade.

This is easy in theory, but harder in practice.

I'd suggest giving my Untethered Mind course a go today if you believe in my words and you know you'd like to manage this voice better.

The course shows you the inner workings of thought in a fun, easy-to-digest way that leaves you with an updated understanding.

It's the understanding that matters. Not the clever techniques.

When you 'get it,' which the course guides you to doing, the need to cling and worry no longer seems like such a good idea.
