The difference between watchers and winners

Become a badass creator

For years, I fooled myself into thinking watching life was the same as living it.

I'd read all the self-help, writing and productivity books, watch YouTube videos of successful entrepreneurs, and follow writers I admired.

I felt proud and walked around town with a skip in my step like I knew things.

I was book smart. But I wasn't much of a doer.

I consumed endless content about building businesses, growing audiences, and making passive income.

I told myself I'd start once I'd learned and planned just enough.

In reality, I was firmly enrolled in a PhD in Procrastination.

I was the most well-read person who'd accomplished close to nothing.

I was getting gradually more broke too.

One day, my twitching eye spoke to me in Eynglish.

It said, 'Hey Alex, stop being a spectator in your own life. I'm getting tired up here.'

I felt that.

So, I decided to just write something and publish it without worrying so much.

I wrote and published for 30 days, even if I hated what I shared.

I was 'embracing the suck' as they said in that movie Jarhead.

This cheeky little life shift was like switching on the water pipes so the washing machine could finally run properly.

I felt better. I could see my work was doing something. People who weren't stalkers began reaching out.

My network grew.

I even got asked to speak on a podcast.

I had more people reaching out to me for my work as an illustrator too.

So, be careful, if all you do is consume.

When you're always taking in information, you're living in everyone else's reality instead of creating your own.

You become an expert on what other people think rather than discovering what you think.

Sure, study what others do. But don't make your whole game about observing.

Observers collect knowledge, which is nice, I guess, but creators build wealth because they're being seen.

Eventually, you need to step into the freaking arena and open yourself up to that icky feeling of risk.

Doing this always feels too early.

But you'll never make the money you want if you don't flirt with a little danger and get yourself out there.

So be a creator, and start today.

This exact shift, from observer to creator, is what I dive deep into in my latest book: The Never Retired Writer, which I'm pleased to say is done and ready for release!

Right now, I'm running a special deal for my Blurb Club subscribers where they get early access to the book.

Blurb Club subscribers get special perks for supporting me as a writer, like early access to products.

Here's what you'll get in my latest book:

  • Shows you how to stop preparing and start creating - the exact mindset shifts that turn observers into successful creators

  • 15 years of real experience distilled into actionable steps - what actually works when building a life around your ideas

  • Complete roadmap for turning thoughts into income - from first post to sustainable business

  • How to build freedom through words - creating a life you never need to retire from

(I'll be sharing a link to access the new book after you join this week)

Stop consuming, and start creating!

Bosh, and out.
