The assumption killing your writing (and your purpose)

You might be making an assumption about your writing that is screwing you.
I know this because I've worked with hundreds of clients who shared the same doubts with me.
The assumption is this: 'I need to figure out the right way to write before I start.'
Writers sit paralysed, convinced they need to crack some secret code before their words will matter to anyone.
They assume there's some trendy template or formula that will stir souls and make them a winning writer.
They believe there's a correct structure they need to follow for their words to get green-lighted into existence.
However, this only reinforces their ego's need to avoid.
They don't publish because they don't believe they know exactly how to write the right way.
Don Miguel Ruiz, in The Four Agreements, discusses how assumptions can poison our experience. We make them to feel safe, to avoid asking questions, and to protect ourselves from looking like dummies.
Assumptions take lives.
They turn you and I into fools because they give us reasons to avoid the icky feeling of stepping up and expressing ourselves.
When you assume you need to write a certain way, you unwittingly doom your writing.
Your voice is forced into suppression under layers of what you think writing should sound like.
I see this a lot with writers trying to sound 'professional.'
That just leads to stunted, try-hard writing which turns words to stone.
Unreadable.
Without bringing your voice to life, your writing is soulless.
This matters more now.
AI can churn out perfectly structured content within seconds. It can mimic styles, follow templates, and sound 'professional.'
What it can't do is deliver YOU writing that comes about because you're enjoying yourself.
Writers who get it, who will be successful in the coming years know how to make their readers feel things.
And the only way to make a reader feel is when you the writer also feels. This comes only through enjoyment.
When you're enjoying the process, and you're writing with flow rather than force, your words come alive. They carry energy and they connect.
But most writers never get there because they're stuck trying to follow rigid rules instead of understanding the principles that create that flow.
Online Writing Alchemy shows you the 16 core secrets that make writing feel natural and resonate with your people. You'll understand why certain writing connects while other writing falls flat, so you can stop overthinking and start enjoying the process.
When writing becomes enjoyable, everything changes. You want to write more, your voice emerges, and people respond enthusiastically.
Writing with purpose and contributing a message has kept me sane over the last 15 years.
