The 24-hour mindset that transformed my writing
over 2 million words later
‘Your writing won’t ever make a dent.’
This is just one of my many thoughts when I started writing blogs fifteen years ago.
‘You’ll write something goofy and lose friends.’
There goes another thought.
Over time, I realised I had these doubts whenever I’d look far into the future. I’d think about my writing as a heavy thing that required a ton of work.
I’d consider success like one might consider summiting Mt Everest:
Overwhelming.
Gargantuan.
Complicated.
Hard work.
But then I’d bring myself back. I’d remind myself what a mentor told me:
We all have one day.
So, rather than thinking in scary, distant Thousands...
I channelled my mind to focus on the 24 hours at my fingertips.
I applied this thinking to whatever habit I needed (or didn’t want) in my life.
Just like you can.
When I did, my doubtful thoughts faded and my productivity transformed. The effect this had on my life, after years of frustration, was honestly monumental.
Want to quit alcohol?
You only need not to drink today.
Want to become a master writer?
You only need to write today.
All else is fluff. Clouds. Darkness.
It doesn’t exist.
You become great through how you handle Each. Simple. Day.
