Skyscrapers will soon be filled with vegetables.

A glinting glass tower stands tall in the spitting Warsaw rain.

I can see tiny people in the windows talking, typing, in meetings.

They don’t truly understand why they do what they do and why they are really necessary in this age.

(Sorry, Martin)

In a few short years, I predict we’ll see vast vertical farms, leaves pressed against windows instead of tiny people.

We’ll soon reach a point where artificial intelligence systems will replace 95% of corporate jobs.

People will no longer be necessary here.

And these vast buildings will serve the burgeoning need to provide cities with easier access to grown food.

Are these the inane ramblings of a British madman?

Time will tell.

But I know I want to thrive in the coming chaos.

What am I doing to prepare?

I am developing this skill:

Developing my friendship with you (yes, you).

I do this by writing things about what I’m working on that I believe will help you.

I do this by writing things consistently, even if it pushes some of you away, loses subscribers, and occasionally makes me feel drained and even a little icky.

Moving others is a tremendous skill.

By getting better at this, I create options for myself. People are listening. You opened this email. This is valuable for me because I now have your attention.

Attention, as I’m sure you can understand, is valuable.

It’s like investing in tiny pieces of gold.

Every post I share accumulates a little more attention for my attention stack.

And I don’t feel overly exposed or vulnerable by being known. I feel secure.

I choose mainly writing to do this, but it’s possible to create online friendships in any way you like (audio, videos, tweets, streaming, drawings).

I’m banking on attention.

I don’t want to be a vegetable.

If you’d like help using writing to grow your attention brand, you might like my Online Writing Alchemy course.

The course helps you save years by showing you exactly what people need to fall in love with your writing and want to subscribe to you for more.

Given what’s coming, this is a worthy investment for an asset (attention) most will miss.
