Rage won’t buy you shoes

(THE life skill)

I can't stand buying shoes.

The whole process agitates me every time I do it.

The hot store lights.

The choice overwhelm.

And in the case of today's shopping in a Warsaw mall, the grumpy 'shoe helper' who acted like she was doing me a favour that I was buying shoes.

My blood boiled.

I nearly flipped.

But I held it together (just).

I've been here before, choosing the unrestrained path. I know it only brings regret.

I see many people unleashing their demons online too.

Engaging in arguments.

Sharing 'value posts' that are just excuses to complain.

Letting go to uncontrolled anger is highly tempting.

When we flip, however, we push others away.

We regret it and look silly.

Rage can feel good. It's a kind of high...but only in the moment.

Three seconds later, we feel empty.

Believe it or not, people want to be led by those who control themselves. It's a kind of pheromone.

You'll be admired if you can keep your cool when others around you are raging and venting.

Do this consistently, and you'll attract your tribe.

Self-control, regardless of how frustrating your environment - is THE life skill.

If you upgrade to my Ember newsletter, I'll give you monthly mini-courses (like the upcoming 'Likeability Code') that show you exactly how to master your emotions to build respect and your brand.

See you soon,

Alex
