Purpose found me without effort
Art of Self Respect insider's book bundle
There have been many times over my career when I felt lost.
During those moments, I’d think that ‘finding purpose’ was my answer.
I thought if I could just define it clearly, write it down, and map it out, everything would click.
But that only left me trying to plan my way through life rather than actually doing much, progressing, and living.
Sure, I filled many pretty notebooks, but all that planning didn’t lead to progress.
But every time I simply committed to getting great at something, it didn’t take long to realise I was on purpose.
I began doing things to get good at something, and purpose found me.
And so did my sense of self-respect.
I did this with my illustration career in my twenties. I didn’t know if it was ‘the thing.’
I just started drawing, finding clients, and building. Needing money at the time actually helped me commit. And then meaning followed.
I did it again with coaching in my thirties. Commit to getting good first, purpose followed.
And now, after feeling rather burned out writing non-fiction blogs, I’ve finally committed to focusing most of my time in this next phase of my life on writing fiction.
(Don’t worry. These emails and non-fiction articles will continue, perhaps to a slightly lesser degree of mania).
I don’t know if fiction is my calling. But by working on it in some way each day, whether learning or writing, I AM already on my fiction purpose.
And, as you can see, your life can be split into multiple purposes, because purpose isn’t a destination, but rather an act.
Life has meaning now for me. I’m excited to create. And the sense of self-direction means any lingering insecurity fades.
Purpose isn’t something you find. It’s something that finds you when you move.
And when you just commit to a singular skill as your main focus, and follow through with action, your sense of self-respect flourishes.
That’s what my book The Art of Self Respect is about.
It’s not about thinking differently or clever mindset hacks. It shows you 25 habits that make self-respect show up naturally.
If you’re holding yourself back from doing more of what you really want in life, this is the book for you.
I’m running a limited-time special bundle (for subscribers only) that includes three bonus frameworks to accelerate the confidence-building from the book, which I don’t offer anywhere else.
Act fast, because tomorrow at 3pm ET, the free Likeability Code course bonus (usually $147) disappears. This course shows you 9 ways to become someone people are naturally drawn to.
