My creativity habit was sluggish until this happened

You must write every day!’ They yell.

Creativity gives you purpose,’ they harp.

Sharing content online will grow your brand!’ They shriek.

The ‘they’ in question is not wrong, though.

Oh, and that ‘they’ is me.

I’m the one continually yelling about the insane benefits of regularly creating and publishing your content online.

Consistently creating things and publishing things literally saved my life.

Making and sharing hundreds of designs in my twenties led to an illustration career that got me clients like the BBC, Google, Wired Magazine and Mars.

Writing hundreds of articles in my twenties gave me an additional career as a writer and coach and landed me on podcasts and stages around the world.

More than anything, consistently creating content gave me purpose and kept me sane.

But, looking back, I don’t think I’d have got very far if it hadn’t been for maintaining one foundational habit:

Walking.

Walking at least 30 minutes each day raised my mood, stilled my mind, and gave me access to 2–3 insights that would inform my content.

Now I try to hit at least 8,000 steps daily.

Walking feeds my creativity, and creativity feeds my walking.

A beautifully symbiotic relationship.

If you struggle to create consistently, I’d encourage you to walk more if you can.

It keeps you happy, lean and creative.

Do as I do, and bring a notebook to note everything that comes to mind when you walk.

Walking is now an enjoyable and essential part of your business.

Not a frivolous ‘chore.’

Walk to create, and create to live.

If you’re one of the few who really get the significance of building an audience (who follows you and buys your stuff) in this age, you might like my course: Online Writing Alchemy.

The course shows you what I learned over a decade of writing online, so you save years of frustration.

This course is a blueprint to writing words that grow your brand at least 3X faster than doing it yourself.
