My 'boring' birthday post just hit 427 comments
OWA birthday discount closes today
Yesterday I shared something on Threads that made me a bit nervous.
It was my 41st birthday, and people kept asking how I was celebrating.
Instead of making up something impressive, I posted this:
"It's my (41st) birthday today and people are asking me how I'm spending my day.
Bro, I'm doing nothing but chilling, walking, reading, writing and drinking coffee today because that is the perfect day for me.
Doing the 'mundane' is my special."
Part of me worried people would think: 'This guy's life is pathetically dull.'
But another part of me knew what kind of content people respond well to.
So I hit share anyway.
That post now has nearly 500 comments and tens of thousands of views.
Hundreds of people are thanking me for making them feel normal.
They're joining me in celebrating the beauty of simple pleasures.
The response reminded me of something I've learned from years of writing online:
The things you're nervous to share are often the things that connect the most.
We think people want to see our life highlights or our biggest, juiciest wins. But what people actually crave is recognition.
They want you to allay their insecurities and make them feel normal and justified.
They want relief from knowing they're not alone.
And you know this because you light up when you come across ideas that make you feel like you belong.
When you embrace who you actually are, not who you think you should be, and talk about those things on the internet, good things happen.
Barely anyone knows me on Threads, yet I picked up a good 300 followers yesterday in one afternoon. In the context of building a brand that supports you, this is significant.
Your followers become fans, and many fans become your customers.
Take that step.
Be willing to look a little goofy to attract your lifelong fans.
Most people know being authentic works, but they don't know how to translate that authenticity into writing that actually spreads.
They end up publishing watered-down versions of themselves that connect with no one.
This is exactly what Online Writing Alchemy solves.
It shows you how to take your authentic voice and craft it into writing that magnetises the right people to you.
As it was my birthday yesterday, I'm making the course available at $250 off - but only until today at 2pm ET.
Instead of $397, the price is $147.
[NOTE: the green buy button still says '$297' but the final price at checkout will be $147 - you are free to make that purchase securely]
