Mark Cuban stole my tweet.

Writing course sale ending...

"Humans were designed to create. That's why you get depressed when all you do is consume."

I wrote this tweet a couple of years ago.

Recently, I saw this very quote on an Instagram post with over a million followers.

But it wasn't credited to me.

It was passed off as something Mark Cuban, the billionaire, said.

I was a little annoyed, and certainly not with Mark, who likely doesn't know about the channel, but at least the message was being seen by thousands.

I ran a search for that quote, and I've seen it being shared tons of times on social media. Rarely attributed to me. Again, fine. I care more that people are resonating with the message.

I'm bringing this up because the next few years will be brutal for people who don't heed this.

A torrent of incredibly immersive and stimulating distractions is on the way. More than we've seen so far. AI is eliminating jobs, which will directly contribute to the problem.

Entertainment is infinite and becoming more ingrained. Consumption has never been easier.

Many people will lose themselves to it. And I mean, really lose themselves. We're becoming brain-dead consumers, throwing away our potential and purpose in the process.

People will scroll and binge and find fewer reasons to create. And they'll wonder why they feel empty, despite having no problem never being bored.

They'll feel empty because they will lack meaning.

And for me, a major part of finding meaning is through contributing via creative expression.

Creating something that moves others has given my life meaning for over a decade.

From writing, making things, and creating from what was previously nothing.

Humans were built to create. And when we don't do this regularly, replacing it with mindless distraction, we lose our sense of who we are.

Not only does creating things regularly for others to enjoy give my life meaning, keeping us from feeling depressed, but it is also an asset that grows.

More and more people gather around to read my work.

I now make a living from this, from what I love to do.

But it started with writing one post that resonated. Then, not stopping.

You need to act now to bolster yourself against what's coming.

Because it's already happening.

The people who survive the next decade with their sanity and sense of purpose intact will be the ones who committed to daily creative expression.

This could be writing, making videos, or building things others use and enjoy.

Less passive consuming while the world accelerates around them.

It's here you will find a sense of meaning as the world spirals.
