I rewired my friend's mind with a question

-

A friend of mine says she eats too much chocolate.

She wants to cut down on sugar.

Obviously, chocolate binging and sugar reduction don't go well together.

So I put on my coaching hat (it has huge green feathers in it).

I ask her:

In what situations do you most often cave and overeat chocolate?

She says:

When I'm frustrated or angry.

Ah yes, an emotional eating thing.

But here's the opportunity.

Right now, her belief is this:

I have an 'excuse' to eat chocolate when life gets annoying (which it often does, especially when you're LOOKING for reasons to be annoyed by life).

I self-soothe with chocolate.

I then asked her:

What if life weren't annoying?

What if you annoyed yourself?

Her eyes glazed over before sparkling momentarily.

It was starting to click.

Suddenly, she no longer has an excuse to eat unnecessary amounts of chocolate.

If it was true that she annoyed herself (through her thinking), then she was no longer a VICTIM in her life story.

She was fully in control again.

Okay.

That's actually a huge deal.

Not only for chocolate but for anything you do that isn't always rational.

A new understanding of how things work really can change one's behaviour.

...Because she just told me she hasn't had sugar (except for some fruit) in over ten days.

She doesn't even really know why.

But I suspect it's because she no longer feels at the mercy of an 'annoying life.'

We don't need to overthink this.

All we need to know is that a simple shift in understanding can completely change our behaviour.

And it starts by understanding that LIFE does NOTHING to influence your behaviour.

YOU DO.

Your thoughts do.

And that, my rosy-cheeked friend, is absolute power.

If you are tickled by this idea, and you want to impress your friends at how freaking badass you can be by more effortlessly choosing GOOD habits over shitty habits...

Try my Untethered Mind course. You need this course to fully reset your understanding of the mind in less than a couple of hours.

When you do this, you no longer see things with the weight of overthinking or unnecessary fear. You're calmer and more rational, and you'll make better decisions far easier.

...Just as Sarvam was after he went through the course:

"It was instant! This course completely changed my perspective on how my thoughts influence the way I react to the world around me.

I've tried hundreds of resources on "fixing myself" and on self-improvement, but I never expected this kind of clarity from Alex's Untethered Mind."
