I got tipsy with the mayor

Online Writing Alchemy sale ends today

This Sunday, I drank Rakia with the mayor of a small village in the mountains of Bulgaria.

Rakia is a fruit spirit that will knock you cold if you aren't careful.

I was checking out the area for a potential land purchase.

As we munched on peanuts by my cabin, he asked me about my plan for living in Bulgaria.

'How do you plan to earn money when you are on your homestead?'

I said what I say to everyone who wonders how I support myself living in all these random places.

I make money through the Internet. As long as there is a connection and my laptop is still running, I can make money.

An email pings through. It's a $65 Substack membership sale. We continue.

Even in a mountain cabin, it's possible, with something like Starlink.

I've been free of a job since I was 24. I'm 42 in September.

I've made money through various kinds of freelance work from illustration and writing articles. I've sold designs, generated membership income, sold courses, workshops, and books, and offered Zoom coaching.

It has most certainly not been easy, but I was very careful in my twenties to prioritise income that would allow me to work and live anywhere.

Ten countries later, this system allows me to develop my own little homestead while not relying on selling honey for income.

The honey income will come, but for now, the fuel comes from my newsletter and the attention it generates from subscribers.

I write stories like these, and occasionally someone (hopefully you) decides to buy one of my products advertised at the bottom of each email.

A newsletter like this takes me 30 minutes per day to maintain and grow.

People find it through content I share across the Internet, whether on Substack, Medium, Twitter or even my YouTube videos.

That's it.

The key ingredient is creating stuff people actually want to read. You need the attention. With attention and trust, selling products becomes easy.

If you'd like help on the writing part, so you can create content that grows your newsletter and builds the foundation for your free life, you might like this:

Today, until 5pm ET, I'm offering my Online Writing Alchemy course at a silly price during the Bulgarian Easter sale.

The course guides you through the 16 secrets that will sharpen your writing results fast, whether you use AI for help or not.

It's $77 for a few more hours, usually $297.

Peace and Rakia,

Alex
