I did this to gradually break free from fear

-

She left the taxi, high heels clicking.

Then she looked back with a sharp turn.

The driver was yelling something.

She shuffled back to the car and opened the door.

A pair of sunglasses.

She’d forgotten them in the back seat.

I rarely leave stuff behind these days.

I have an inbuilt brain impulse that forces me to look back and check every time I leave a car, a bench, or a table.

I’ve left too many things behind to be comfortable walking off.

That’s the beauty of the brain.

It continually takes note of your surroundings and reactions, making our lives easier.

So we survive and thrive.

We’re bombarded with too much data to absorb.

That’s why the brain automates many of our responses.

Like automatically checking a car seat for your stuff.

Or driving in your neighbourhood without thinking.

Automatic responses can be helpful, but they can also be harmful.

If, for example, we were once insulted by a man with a red hat, we might get nervous when we see men in red hats.

The brain automates the response, and it can be to our detriment.

We can be anxious or resistant to things when we don’t need to be.

And I realised it wasn’t much fun living in a reality that I had to tiptoe around.

I learned to notice what made me fearful, and to do more of those things to slowly break down that fear and rewire the mind.

For example, in my twenties, I had social anxiety. So I spent weeks talking to strangers in the streets of London.

Slowly, my anxiety faded.

Doing more of those things that scare you, even in tiny pieces, is the way.

That’s how to break limits, work with your brain, and find true happiness.

If you (like the vast majority of humans) ever worry about what others think...and it’s affecting your sense of joy and freedom...

You might like my course: Let Go of the S#it that Weakens You.

15 steps to rewire your mind so you care less about what others think.

Taking action is one thing, but the impact is magnified when you couple action with breaking down limiting beliefs about yourself in the context of other people.

This course provides exercises in each step that gradually break down limiting beliefs to rewire your thinking, with the following benefits:

  • You realise your true confidence and self-love

  • You detach yourself from being overly concerned about what others think.

  • Your anxiety fades notably within days.

  • You feel strangely more optimistic and more willing to do things that you would have avoided in the past.

Much love,

Alex
