I crashed today.

-

I flew through the air, hands out like Superman.

My electric scooter clattered behind.

I felt nothing at first, and then the pain hit.

This was my first fall from a scooter, and I’ve been zooming around cities across Europe for years.

I was stunned.

A man asked me if I was okay in Polish.

I felt around. Nothing broken.

All okay.

I dusted myself off and picked up the scooter.

I whizzed off to the nearest cafe.

I do this sometimes. I get this freedom thanks to having written online for a few years.

(My Online Writing Alchemy course shows you how to write with energy so you can have this freedom, too).

As I drove, my elbows bled, but I felt happy.

I could have died.

But I was grateful for this slap in the face.

I needed it.

It reminded me of how precious life is and how petty my complaints, little grovels, and challenges can seem.

Sure, it’s a cliché, but the truth of this hit me.

Life is precious.

But do you need to catapult off a scooter to realise the same thing?

Of course not.

All it takes is a pattern interrupt.

More specifically, you interrupt yourself by NOT criticising yourself or the world for a moment.

You get still.

You let your thoughts settle.

It’s here where gratitude reaches you effortlessly.

Oh, and if you’d like help reducing overthinking so you have more regular access to gratitude, you might like my course:

Untethered Mind guides you through a series of insights that help you understand the true nature of how your thoughts work.

When you see it, you can’t go back. Overthinking seems futile.

Much love,

Alex
