He cracked the code

(...and for a moment, I hated him)

‘No wonder you have no motivation!’

Jacob had a gleeful look. Like he knew all the answers to the Universe.

‘You’ve lost your sense of purpose!’

His stupid face was getting on my nerves.

Yeah, sounds great, I said. But how the heck do I find my purpose?

‘Don’t overcomplicate it, butthead!

Purpose is about committing to something fun that keeps you busy. And you only need to focus on small chunks.’

Jacob actually winked.

‘Small chunks?’

‘Yup. Doesn’t need to be some big, scary commitment. Just a week, or thirty days.’

I felt something shift in my chest. Could it have been relief?

‘Okay. I can work with that. I know I’ve been struggling to exercise recently. How about I walk 5000 steps every day for the next thirty days...’

‘Love it! Now you’re onto something. That’s all you need, brother. One clear plan. Something that feels like fun. Thirty days.’

‘That’s purpose. Doesn’t need to be so damn hard, eh?’

Suddenly, Jacob didn’t seem as annoying anymore.

BTW, ever since I started writing and publishing most days, I’ve had far more of a sense of purpose.

Writing about things that matter to me fills my life with a sense of meaning. And it grows me an audience (you, legends), who support my dreams.

You can have this too when you publish consistently.

But first, you’ll want to know the 16 secrets of online writing so you don’t waste years writing to crickets, like I did.
