God, I could use a freaking holiday.

. . .

...Was my first thought before cracking my knuckles to write this daily email.

Then my mind drifted to a holiday I went on several years ago.

(That's 'vacation' to you friends across the Atlantic).

I was sitting on a beach in Thailand.

The breeze, the turquoise water, the strong Piña Colada in hand.

I remember looking out at the swimmers floating on the gentle waves.

And thinking...

God, I wish I could get back to writing.

No joke.

You see, there's a little dude who sits in a back room in our minds who's never quite satisfied.

I call him Jeff.

He has a little bald patch and walks around with a scowl.

And he always wants to be somewhere else.

I wrote a tweet today that said:

'You're not burned out because you work too much.

You're burned out because you think too much.'

Very often, I feel like I need more time off. More rest.

More vacay on beaches.

But I often really don't.

When I get there, it doesn't take me long to want to get back to work.

And this says everything you need to know about why we procrastinate and feel tons of resistance to DO stuff.

It's our minds.

It's Jeff.

It isn't you.

It's an illusion. Your thoughts are feeding you bullshit.

And the solution?

A lobotomy?

No. You can't just turn off your thoughts.

You need to be nice to Jeff and say thanks, but no thanks.

And return to what you were doing.

If you want to master this method of low-pressure thinking, you need what I had, which was a series of insights about the nature of thoughts.

Untethered Mind gives you this guidance, so your mind rewires.

The result is 90% less overthinking in less than a week.
