Doreen was angry with me
[insert what you had for breakfast here]
No, no and no.
My inner voice said this with a hint of spice.
No way I'm writing another email today. I've run out of ideas, and my subscribers are getting tired of hearing from me.
Doreen even emailed me the other day telling me explicitly that I needed to write to her less.
So, Alex, chill. What else do you have to prove?
Point taken, but my emails are an important thread in my life.
They keep you, yes you, aware that I exist, and they enable me to keep doing this (I add a cheeky call to action at the bottom of emails and they create income that allows me to write for a living).
So I keep these going. They keep my mind (fairly) sharp, and connected to you.
But I will keep this one short, because I want to demonstrate that, even if you haven't got much to say, you can still write something short and seemingly mundane.
If you're looking for more freedom, write regular emails.
Then share a link to your course, coaching, books, ebooks, workshops, merchandise, whatever. That's leverage and income.
Don't worry that some people will unsubscribe. That's to be expected. I lose literally thousands a year.
And write about what you had for damn breakfast if you can't think of anything else.
People want someone they can relate to and connect with, even if through a few daily words.
Having this kind of connection is extremely powerful in a precarious age.
People read your words, and they get to know you. And that's attention. Attention that can bring support to you. And sales of your products. And a sofa to crash on if you're in a new city, etc.
See how long I've gone on for now without really trying?
That's all it takes.
Start.
And if you want to know how I turn a ramble about Doreen into something people actually open, that's what Online Writing Alchemy is for.
You get the 16 secrets from 15+ years of writing online to an audience that keeps growing.
Peace and cows,
Alex
