Create your way to instant purpose
Stop waiting for meaning
I used to hate feeling like life had no meaning.
I was on the hunt for a sense of purpose.
Enough waiting around showed me no package labelled ‘purpose’ would arrive at my door.
So I shrugged and just got to doing things.
I started a blog.
I wrote books.
I made illustrations.
I made podcasts.
I started coaching people on Zoom.
It didn’t take long to realise I had something I could call purpose.
I was taking an idea and turning it into something another human could use to improve their own lives.
And the cool thing was, I didn’t need to be some expert in something.
I just needed to tell some stories.
I needed to be a couple of steps ahead of someone who was looking for help.
Committing myself to creating content to share online gave me the purpose I was looking for.
I felt lost again when I stopped creating and sharing for a few days.
Purpose and energy returned when I created...
...Even if I didn’t feel like doing it.
Dedicate yourself to creating things that inspire others to act.
You’ll have more purpose than you’ll know what to do with.
It took me a long time to write posts that people wanted to read. Years of writing online eventually showed me patterns that worked.
I found there was a method to writing stuff people actually wanted to read.
When I combined an understanding of the craft of online writing with frequent publishing, my purpose began to make real impact.
I had people writing me emails thanking me for my words.
