Change makes you more intelligent
'Never Retired Writer' book launches soon
A woman in the street approached me today in Sofia.
She said, 'Excuse me, please change.'
I looked at her dead in the eye and said, 'Change is the only constant.'
Okay, I didn't say that. I gave her a euro and went along with my day.
But the statement still stands.
We live in a world where nothing stays the same...
We can fuss and fight and resist for things NOT to change.
But they always will.
It took me decades to really absorb the power of this understanding.
Growing up, when things didn't go the way I wanted, I'd get frustrated or depressed.
I wasn't accepting change. I believed there was a version of life in which the things I was happy with would always stay, and things I didn't want would never come.
But that's not how it works.
And when I opened myself to the idea that things are guaranteed to change, I not only became less stressed all the time...
I began to see things I had missed before.
That's what stress does. It clouds the mind. It slows us down.
It makes us stupid.
But when we anticipate change, and work with it...
We become more intelligent.
For example, halfway through writing my latest book on how to build a more secure future with writing: The Never Retired Writer, AI writing became more of a thing.
I could have got angry and quit the project. But instead, I used this change in the writing landscape.
I wove the power of using AI to help us write into the book.
I used change to make the project better.
Now that I've mentioned the book, I want to let you know that I'm (finally) launching it on Amazon this coming Saturday, April 25th, at 9am ET.
The book is 62 chapters on building a writing life that gives you income, freedom, and a skill AI can't replace.
The book will be available for just $0.99 during a special 3-day launch window, going up to $9.99.
So make sure you watch your inbox this Saturday so you can jump on it.
Much love,
Alex
