Busy, but not building anything that mattered
. . .
If you're like me, you sometimes forget the bigger picture.
I get lost in the weeds, obsessing over tiny details.
Days go by, and I'm tweaking and overthinking and diving deep.
Attention to detail isn't a bad thing.
But if you're building your own things, your brand, working on your own projects...
You need to zoom out regularly to remind you why you're doing all this.
Without a why, it's like driving a train without a track.
Eventually, it derails and slides over to the wrong destination.
I know when I'm derailing when I feel I'm burning out.
Or there's this gentle hum of frustration beneath the surface, and I can't quite pinpoint why.
Or maybe there's a disconnect with what I create and how people respond. They aren't buying, for example.
Years of this obsessive meandering eventually forced me to pause and figure out a better approach.
I needed a sense of guiding purpose in my work.
I needed to feel excited, clear, ready, and a little bit badass (because now my work was tied to greater impact in the world).
When I found this clarity, my audience felt it, too.
Clarity on your purpose shouldn't be complicated.
You can encapsulate everything you do in a single sentence.
I call this my purpose statement.
I refer to it every few days to remind me of the mission I'm on. I sit down, close my eyes and immerse myself in my mission.
Knowing this saves me time and frustration and makes me more money because I know who I help and how.
It keeps me creating and feeling like my life has a powerful and aligned sense of meaning again.
It guides everything I do, from the books I write, to the potential clients I reach out to.
But it's the piece most people skip. And then they end up quitting.
Because the WHY was never there, or it was too weak.
What's your purpose statement?
If you need my direct guidance with crafting your own so you create one that aligns with you and your personal story and passions, I've put together a simple-to-follow course to help you do exactly that:
The Purpose Statement System
A Proven Framework for Building Your Online Movement
This course guides you through the exact process I use with clients to create a strong, clear, energising purpose statement that shapes everything they write, build, and share.
When you know what you stand for, you show up differently.
You speak with clarity.
People trust you faster.
And most importantly, you stop drifting.
🧨 This is available to buy for a few hours more today (closes 5pm ET). Then it's gone for at least two months.
"I want to thank you for the Purpose Statement System course. I've been struggling to clarify my purpose, niche, and goals, and the course was really the first thing that broke through for me." - Amy Jane
