AI will accelerate your writing

I built an illustration career in my twenties, and I can see the damage AI creativity tools are doing.

What a company would have hired an illustrator for decades ago may now use AI to create the image.

Many complain about AI and how it's making writers worse and is displacing many creative people.

It is and will, for most.

But a lot of people, I've noticed, are throwing AI tools out without considering how it can elevate what they already have.

AI tools like Claude and ChatGPT are just that: tools. They aren't necessarily good or bad. They can of course, lead to bad.

But you can also use them to multiply your own creative output, making you more immune to the challenges out there.

You can use these tools to be better and faster than everyone else (quite handy in this age of mass production and information overload)...If used well and you use your brain at least a teeny bit.

Being more productive is obviously helpful.

But for most, when it comes to content, this means more people putting out more vanilla, flat, no pop, more robotic, mechanical....tripe.

Let them fill the Internet with more generic AI junk.

Those who go far in the world of content - writing in particular in this case - can combine:

1. An understanding of what makes for addictive, fun writing that people like and WANT to read.

2. AI as a tool to accelerate their output, if they want to use it, so they spend less time on more high-quality written material that people like.

I don't use AI to write these emails. But I am seeing its value in speeding up my research and preparation phases, and in increasing my output across other platforms.

AI, for example, can take an article I write and turn it into content more appropriate to places like LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.

I also see the value in AI incentivising more people to want to create more things in the first place. If more creativity comes from that, then I’m all for it.

So AI doesn't suck.

It can be used to accelerate your workflow.
